A journey of discovery

Villages such as Lakones, Afionas, Sokraki, and the heritage site of Paleá Períthia retain  their traditional street patterns and stone-built structures. Angelokastro, positioned on a cliff above the coastline,  contains the remains of a Byzantine fortress with extensive views across the island. Olive groves and herb-covered terrain connect  each settlements in one continuous sweep. Local life is visible  through village festivals such as Sokraki’s panigiri,  as well as  in everyday meetings places such as kafeneia serving meze and ouzo. Regional dishes made from local produce and prepared in timeless tradition are served at tavernas throughout the island.
